COMPUTER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT Overview of the Department Computer Engineering Technology Department of Ogun State Institute Of technology, Igbesa is a Department that runs National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes respectively. Our National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma(HND) programmes are dedicated to produce well equipped and competent Computer Technicians and Technologists. The Programmes are dedicated to Promoting active learning, critical thinking, and engineering judgment, coupled with business and entrepreneurial skills. COURSE OBJECTIVES The National Diploma is designed to produce Computer Technicians that can i. Install, maintain and repair Computer System ii. Install, configure and operate Computer Systems and Networks iii. Use appropriate instruments and software to carryout simple tests and measurements on all subsystems in a Computer and its peripherals iv. Construct simple Computer circuit and develop programming codes v. Present technical reports and manage an enterprise On completion of Higher National Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology, the diplomates should be able to i. Carry out maintenance and repairs on Computer Hardware and Installations ii. Supervise the setting up Installation and Configuration of Computer Systems, peripheral and Network iii. Design electronics and logic circuit for use in modification of Computer Systems iv. Undertake the Design and implementation of Computer Networks v. Perform programming of micro-controller and embedded Systems vi. Apply artificial intelligence(AI) techniques and vii. Establish and manage an Enterprise Available Modes of Study: Full Time, Part Time, Part Time Evening, ODFeL , part time day Entry Requirements for ND Programme Entry level requirement for Computer Engineering Technology includes at least (i) A minimum score in United Tertiary matriculation examination (UTME) ii. Five credit pass in not more than two sittings in West Africa Senior School Certificate of Education WASSCE, Senior School Certificate of Education (SSCE), National Technical Certificate (NTC), .General Certificate of Education (GCE), .Ordinary level, West Africa Examination Certificate (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO) in relevant subjects The relevant subjects are: English Language Mathematics Physics Chemistry and one other subject from Metal Work, Metal Wood, Technical drawing, Basic Electronics, Basic Electricity Entry Requirements for HND Programme The entry requirement for HND Computer Engineering Technology includes: i. All the requirements for admission into National Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology. ii. National Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology with minimum of lower credit pass and ii. A minimum of one year post National Diploma industrial training work experience in Computer Engineering settings or related industries or iv. Candidate with ND or pass level and a minimum of two-years POST ND industrial training work experience may also be considered. The O’ level subjects must consist of ( i). Mathematics, ( i). Physics, (iii). English Language,( iv). Chemistry and any other one (1) of v. Economics vi. Geography vii. Further mathematics viii. Technical drawing ix. Commerce x. Agricultural Science xi. Biology CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT The National Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology is aimed at producing technicians for both the public and private sectors of the economy who can also be self-establishing and self-reliant. COURSE OBJECTIVES On the completion of this programme, the diplomate should be able to: i- Function as a foreman on a construction site. ii- Produce good Civil Engineering drawings and schedules. iii- Supervise Civil Engineering processes. iv- Carry out necessary tests on Engineering materials. v- Interpret Civil Engineering drawings. vi- Interpret surveyor’s measurements. vii- Set-out Civil Engineering project. viii- Carry out maintenance of Civil Engineering works. OTHERS: a. To establish a vehicle for the actualisation of the state’s ICT policy . b. To encourage the study of Civil Engineering through the provision of well-equipped and technology laboratories in conjunction with the private sectors. c. To train and export IT professional to African and the world at large. AVAILABLE MODE OF STUDY: FULL TIME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ND PROGRAMME The entry requirements into National Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology are as follows: Five O’level credit passes in GCE ‘’O’’ level or Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) at not more than two sittings. The five subjects must include Mathematics and any four of the following Applicants with any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission into the National Diploma programme by direct entry. a. S.S.S.C or its equivalent (N.T.C, WASC, GCE O’Level, NECO) with credit in Physics and Mathematics, English and any other two subjects from the following: Further Mathematics, Fine Art/Technical Drawing, Geography, Economics, Chemistry/Biology, Agricultural Science obtained at not more than two sittings. b. Five credit passes in relevant subjects as stated in (1) above obtained at the final examination of an NBTE recognized preliminary ND programme offered in a polytechnic or similar post-secondary technical Institution provided that the students admitted into the Pre-ND have a Pass in English Language.
